WMGS Workshop: Increasing Consciousness and Distancing from Thoughts Through Meditation

The practice of meditation can be an incredible tool for relaxation. However, when taken beyond relaxation, the practice can become a form of “mental strength training,” a way to strengthen our mental muscles in service of becoming more conscious and aware in our day-to-day lives. This workshop will utilize journaling, guided meditation, and group discussion in our quest to increase consciousness and become more intentional about the way we live our lives. The main goal of the workshop is to provide a new way of dealing with thoughts – a middle ground between pushing them away and latching onto them. This middle ground, ultimately, will be one of distancing from thoughts, allowing for conscious choice on how we respond to thought with action.
